Work had been insane and he knew he had been neglecting Megan. It ate him up inside until he just finally lost it and told them he needed time off. What he was doing with that time was setting up a romantic evening for Megan. He only hoped she was receptive to it, it was a nice romantic meal, a movie or two, and them just curled up together. He needed to feel her against him just to let her know he still loved her very much.

Megan didn't begrudge him anything; she worked with him after all so she knew just how much work he had and what hours he was working. Sure it was disappointing but she was never the kind of person to complain even if her hair were on fire. She just accepted that he would forget things, or come home well after she'd gone to bed, or be too tired for their once busy sex life. None of it was his fault.

So when he promised he'd be home early she didn't know what to expect. Jack had never misled her but there always seemed to be something that came up at the last minute and forced him to change his plans. So she came home and set her bag down looking around for him, wondering if he was actually there this time.

The smell of food filled the air as she walked in so she'd know he was there. He came out of the kitchen and smiled gently. There you are Babe."

"Hey, honey." Megan's smile when she saw him was bright. She left her bag on the couch and crossed over to him to greet him with a hug and a kiss. "I'm so glad you made it. Though I envy your sneaking out of work early skills."

"Perks of being the boss?" He grinned at her but was more than happy to return the kiss and hug. "Mm love you."

"I love you too." She smiled up at him. "And well yeah, so what perks do I get for being the boss's wife?" she teased gently, having him home really instantly brought up her mood.

"You can have any perks you want." Jack was in a playful mood, just happy to have some time with her. Time without the stress, something they both were needing together.

"That might be a long list; there's a lot of stuff we haven't gotten to do in a while." Megan laughed and hopped up to sit on their kitchen island. "I don't think we've had a conversation that wasn't at work about a patient. So what should we talk about?"

"Lets talk about the vacation we are going to take soon." He smiled leaning in kissing her gently.

"What vacation?" Megan asked, curiosity piqued as she kissed him back. She hadn't asked for any time off nor was she aware of needing any but Jack was exactly the guy to plan surprises like that. "Wait, did you finally get someone to cover for you?"
